Total Access Urgent Care Served its One Millionth Patient

On February 13, 2019, Total Access Urgent Care (TAUC ®) served its millionth patient. Emergency medicine physician, Dr. Matt Bruckel, founded TAUC in 2008 on the brink of the world’s worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. Many believed that an independent urgent care would fail when competing with the mighty hospitals. Dr. Bruckel was fueled by the belief that the emergency medicine system was broken. In the ER, patients receive life-saving treatments, but are often devastated by the unpredictable financial burden, long waits, and impersonal care.

After serving over 1 million patients and expanding to 21 communities, TAUC is excited to help more patients every year (over 280,000 in 2018). Driven by its Mission to create fast, friendly, and affordable healthcare in every community, TAUC’s high quality approach to medicine is a crucial part of what makes us the highest-rated health care organization in St. Louis.

In less than one hour, 85 percent of walk-in patients are registered, evaluated, tested, treated, and discharged with medications in-hand. Teams at TAUC start IVs, perform EKGs, run more than 30 labs on-site, suture lacerations, splint fractures, and perform X-Rays, CT Scans, and Ultrasounds. TAUC proudly does this at 1/8th the cost of the ER.

Serving one million patients is a proud achievement in TAUC’s history. Patients trust Total Access Urgent Care 365 days per year with extended hours at the Webster Groves location from 6am-10pm and standard 8am-8pm hours at the other 20 locations (with more on the way) in the Greater St. Louis area.
