Workers’ Compensation

Workers’ compensation ensures that a full recovery is reached after a work-related injury. To receive workers’ compensation benefits, it is essential that the injury is reported and evaluated immediately. With numerous urgent care clinics across St. Louis and Greater St. Charles, Total Access makes it easy to find a convenient location.

When dealing with a work-related injury or occupational disease, the goal is to maximize recovery of the employee and minimize loss to the employer. Total Access Urgent Care offers a customized treatment plan for each individual that involves immediate treatment and care, documentation and monitoring of any condition, and communication with the employer. TAUC’s doctors and board-certified providers contact the employer immediately after the visit to discuss the evaluation and treatment plan. A recommendation will be given for follow-up visits at TAUC or with specialists, and any restrictions suggested for the patient until full recovery reached will be discussed.

Drug & Alcohol Testing

Many industries require employees to be screened for drugs or alcohol that could potentially inhibit them from safely performing their job. Usually, screening is done prior to a job offer or, in some companies, periodically throughout employment. Drug and alcohol testing could also be required following workplace injuries, automobile accidents, or by a court order.

TAUC offers a variety of tests including:

  • Breath Alcohol Test
  • 10 Panel Urine Drug Test

Total Access offers same-day drug and alcohol testing whether for pre-employment screening or a post-injury screening. TAUC is open 7 days a week, every day of the year, for occupational services and any other medical needs.

Pre-Employment Physicals

A pre-employment physical evaluates for chronic medical conditions or physical limitations that could prevent a potential employee from performing the routine duties of a job. Having a clear understanding of an applicant’s medical history minimizes the risk of work-related injuries and could prevent occupational disease. Occupational physicals are not just important for avoiding injuries. They are also essential for determining an individual’s physical ability to ensure that the job is a good fit. Simply walk-in or check-in online at any Total Access Urgent Care location, open 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

What Does a Pre-Hiring Exam Involve?

Pre-employment exams are tailored to meet specific job requirements, but there are several things you can normally expect. This includes a physical assessment of blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration, as well as an examination of the eyes, ears, nose, throat, skin, and lymph nodes. Some employers also require Drug & Alcohol testing, Tuberculosis testing, or updated Hepatitis vaccines.

DOT Physicals

Keeping drivers safe is essential to Total Access Urgent Care. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) sets health standards for drivers who operate heavyweight commercial vehicles that carry hazardous material or transport numerous passengers. One standard is a regular Department of Transportation (DOT) physical that is required for professional drivers of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs).

Often called a “DOT” physical, it is designed to detect health limitations that could inhibit a driver from safely operating a commercial vehicle. Once the DOT physical is passed, a health certificate is issued by a specially certified provider. The health certificate documents that there are not any concerns about a driver’s, physical, mental, or emotional capability of driving a commercial vehicle for long hours.

What does a DOT physical check for?

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Muscular Disease or Weakness
  • Vision Abnormalities
  • Previous or Recent Injuries and Illnesses
  • Heart Disorders
  • Hearing Disorders
  • Respiratory Abnormalities
  • Lung, Liver, Kidney, and Nervous System Health
  • Drug or Alcohol Use

How to prepare for a DOT physical?

  • Bring a photo id
  • Wear any hearing or vision aids which are normally used

Medical examiners performing Department of Transportation physicals (DOT) must be trained and certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) in order to issue a health certificate. Total Access provides DOT physicals 7 days a week.
